Grant Support & Resources
Letters of Support
Working on a grant related to coastal resilience, infrastructure, or climate adaptation? We can provide letters of support from the BBRC and/or BBNA’s Climate Adaptation Program. Just email us at bristol.bay.rc [at] gmail [dot] com with information about the project and grant or fill out the form on our Contact Us page, and we’ll be in touch!
Other Resources for Grant Support
Outside of the resources we provide through the BBRC, there are a number of other resources and programs supporting grant applications across the state. Here’s a non-exhaustive list of some of the programs and grants available for coastal and climate resilience projects in the region.
Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) Navigator Program
Launched in June 2021, AFN’s Navigator Program “aims to empower Alaska Native communities by enhancing their access to vital federal and state resources.” The program has already secured over $425 million for Alaska Native tribes, tribal organizations, and Native corporations as of May 2026, relying on a dozen of regional navigators across the state. Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) Corporate Giving
BBNC supports and funds programs related to arts and culture; health and social services; and education, employment, and training in the Bristol Bay region. Learn more and apply here!
Bristol Bay Foundation (BBF) Grant Program
The mission of the BBF is to “provide support for and encourage shareholders to pursue educational opportunities and to promote and preserve cultural heritage.” They currently administer higher education scholarships as well as two grant programs:
- The Piniq’ Grant Program, focused on cultural heritage in Bristol Bay
- The Native Place Names Grant Program, focused on Native place names in Bristol Bay
Grants.gov
(good to use alongside funding navigator)
Grants.gov is a one-stop shop for finding and applying for federal grants, providing information about the grants and requirements as well as resources on how to find grants, information about grant-making agencies, and support for applicants. Making an account allows you to sign up for notifications about new grants related to your project and apply for them as they become available.
Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association (BBRSDA)
BBRSDA has funding to support projects that “maximize the value of the Bristol Bay fishery for the benefit of its members.” These projects can be related to the promotion of regionally-harvested seafood; improvements to the commercial fishing industry/infrastructure; development of educational or marketing resources; seafood market research; or cooperating with other commercial fishermen, organizations, and partners. Learn more here and apply here!
Alaska Pacific University’s (APU) Soil Health Grants
APU’s Soil Health Program “seeks to promote soil health in Alaska through small grants open to Tribal Conservation Districts, Villages, and individuals.” These small grants are perfect for projects related to improving soil health (testing, erosion control, sustainable agriculture techniques, community gardens, etc.), education and outreach around soil health, and community sustainability. Learn more and get in touch with the program here!
Know of a program or grant for Bristol Bay communities not included on the list above? Email it to us at bristol.bay.rc [at] gmail [dot] com, and we’ll add it to the list!
