Climate Interviews Project
About the Project:
Purpose:
As part of our ongoing efforts to support climate adaptation and resilience in Bristol Bay, we are hosting interviews with community members and regional partners throughout the region to ensure our projects and work are grounded in community climate observations, input, and needs.
Process:
Interviews focused on local perspectives of environmental change will be conducted between Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 with community members and partners across the region. In-person interviews will be offered at certain gatherings and conferences (see below), and participants may also sign up for virtual interviews if it’s more convenient. All data—including quotes, summaries of responses, and media—belong to the participant and will only be used according to their preferences. If you have any questions, please let us know!
Outcomes:
The information and perspectives gathered in this interview will be used to guide our efforts and priorities when it comes to building resilience in Bristol Bay. Depending on individual privacy decisions, this information or summaries of our findings will also be shared with participants, communities, Tribes, Tribal organizations, and other regional partners to build region-wide resilience and adaptation work that can better support Bristol Bay communities.
Upcoming In-Person Interview Opportunities:
During upcoming gatherings and conferences, we are conducting short interviews with Bristol Bay community members and regional partners. These conversations will help ground our upcoming and continuing projects in the environmental observations and lived experiences that Bristol Bay community members have shared.
We plan to ask the following questions, though participants may guide the interviews how they wish:
- When you hear the phrase “environmental change,” what does it make you think of in your own life and/or community?
- How do you hope the environment looks for future generations?
